Junior Machine Learning Assistant (Remote, Part-Time, Local Model Setup & Support)

I am seeking a machine learning student or junior ML engineer currently studying or recently graduated in machine learning, computer science, artificial intelligence or a related field. To assist with running/debugging/training open-source AI models locally for various purposes.

You will work with various models including but not limited to:

Qwen2.5-VL-7B

DeepSeek Coder / DeepSeek-VL / DeepSeek V3 etc

LLaVA, Mistral, or similar models (GGUF or Transformers-based)

This is a remote freelance position, ideal for a university student who understands the basics of model deployment, CUDA, Python environments, and PyTorch/Transformers.

Tasks:
Set up isolated conda environments for AI models

Install and troubleshoot dependencies (PyTorch, CUDA, Transformers, etc.)

Run and test models using CLI tools or web UIs (LM Studio, Ollama, etc.)

Write simple scripts or instructions to make future model runs easy

Optional: Help with automating local workflows (e.g., screenshot processing, Unity script review)

Requirements:

• Currently studying or recently completed a degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, AI, or related field

• Strong understanding of Python virtual environments (conda, venv)

• Experience running local LLMs or vision-language models

• Familiarity with CUDA, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers

• Clear English or Russian communication

• Bonus: Experience with GGUF, llama.cpp
