Research Associate/Senior Associate at a Global Macro Hedge Fund

Our client - Fundamental global macro hedge fund, focusing on Tech & Hardware, Metals & Mining, and Energy in developed markets - is looking for Research Associate/Senior Associate. Their data-driven strategy combines both top-down and bottom-up research to spot market trends – short and long term. They mainly invest in equities but also use options trading on equities and commodity futures to enhance our returns. Since the launch, they’ve consistently outperformed the S&P 500.

Tasks:

• Conduct in-depth fundamental data-driven research into industries and the macroeconomy, uncovering new investment opportunities.
• Develop and update detailed financial and sector models that guide investment decisions.
• Track global market trends, regulatory changes, and other key factors to generate clear, data-backed ideas.
• Work closely with senior analysts and portfolio managers to shape research that directly impacts investment decisions.
• Team up with data analysts to discover innovative ways to gather and process data faster and more efficiently.
• Attend industry conferences around the globe, meet corporate management, and conduct site visits to identify opportunities ahead of the curve.

Important:

• Fluent in English and Russian.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or Technical Sciences from a reputable university. Any СFA level is a plus.
• 3+ years in corporate finance (investment research, M&A, private equity, etc.).
• Deep expertise in at least one sector: Semiconductors, Internet, U.S. Software, Consumer & Retail, Metals & Mining, Energy, or EU/U.S. Industrials.
• Proven passion for equity markets and the drive to do proactive, original research.
• Ability to think creatively, as well as form non-consensus views through innovative research approaches and use of alternative sources of data.
• Comfort working under pressure in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong financial modeling, Excel, and Bloomberg skills (Python is a plus!).
• Top-notch written and verbal communication, with attention to detail.
• To be prepared for relocation.
