Accountant/Financial Analyst

We are a fast-growing fintech startup (MSB with license in Canada) delivering modern banking-style services using a trusted third-party BaaS provider. We operate our own client-facing UI platform and an internal back office for treasury and financial operations. As we scale, we are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant & Financial Analyst to support daily financial operations, reconciliations, treasury processes, and communication with partners and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Treasury Activities

• Perform daily and weekly reconciliations between bank accounts and platform balances.
• Execute daily treasury operations, including funds movement, FX conversions, and crypto on-ramp/off-ramp activities.
• Process client withdrawals, fees withdrawals, and other operational payouts via the internal platform.

Client & Partner Communications

• Communicate with clients to resolve operational or payments-related issues promptly.
• Liaise with partner banks and service providers, supplying transaction-related information and supporting compliance or operational checks as needed.

Platform & Product Support

• Verify production banking functionality and promptly report bugs, inconsistencies, or service issues to the product and engineering teams.
• Collaborate closely with tech, product, and compliance teams to improve operational flows and platform reliability.

Analytics & Reporting

• Support building and optimizing BI dashboards and analytics within Metabase.
• Prepare financial and profitability reports for the product and treasury functions.
• Maintain company's bookkeeping records in Xero. Prepare financial statements & submit quart-end & year-end tax returns.
• Assist in establishing and improving the accounting processes, including management accounts and operational financial controls.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in finance, accounting, treasury, or payments operations.
• Strong working knowledge of SQL (ability to query databases and support BI tasks).
• English level B2 or higher (both written and verbal).
• Experience working in a fintech, payments, or digital banking environment (preferred).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with crypto operations or familiarity with blockchain explorers.
• Experience using Metabase or similar BI/analytics tools.
• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms.
